Phony People have been building their foundation for a long time with their EP’s “Phonyland” and “4 The 1st Time”. Based in Brooklyn, they consist of Dyme-A-Duzin, Sheriff PJ, Elbee thrie, Aja Grant, Bari Bass, Elijah Rawk, Ian Bakerwoman, Maff Yuu and Temi O, they are a team, a group of friends who fit together organically.
After stumbling across their video “statues” we’ve been obsessed enough with Phony Ppl to download(legally) their EP “Nothing Special.” Mainly influenced by Jazz, hip-hop their album is filled with soulful joints and rhythms. Their music is undeniably good, smooth and real.
You can feel it in their music, their authenticity, their essence is just beautiful and each member brings their personal touch to the collective. “I wish I was a chair” is another confirmation of their gift at bringing sunlight to this dark atmosphere in which music is trapped.
