Today, Ohio-native Stalley releases the second single from his forthcoming mixtape. Written as a reaction to the complacency of his generation, the Block Beataz produced “Raise Your Weapons” calls attention to the constant fight for justice. “We recorded the song a year ago,” says Stalley. “We had a conversation about what’s going on in our lives and the lack of substance and activism in our community.”

The lyrics are a call to arms. A catalyst for turning complaints into a charge for what’s right. “They say I’m the last of a dying breed,” notes the rapper. “Someone who embodies the glories of success, but also embraces the failings of my path. This song is inspired by my own personal push forward, how it now parallels with larger societal trends, and a desire to want more for the people of this country.” Stalley’s new mixtape is coming 8/08/13

But at its core, it’s about the future and Dazed & Confused Magazine wanted to shine a spotlight on a selection of emerging musicians, actors, photographers, models and artists born in that year because their generation is the first to live wholly in the age of the browser.

Without harnessing the power of the web, Chance The Rapper wouldn’t be staring at you from our cover. In just one day, his mixtape Acid Rap was downloaded 50,000 times. Twenty years ago, that kind of exposure was reserved for artists with a major-label deal and a hefty PR budget. Chance is still willingly unsigned. He’s in no hurry to change the situation.

Supreme Props to Dazed & Confused

Earl Sweatshirt kicked off this summer’s series of vitaminwater and The FADER #uncapped performances last night in New York, transforming Ludlow Autobody Shop, an unassuming downtown garage, into a brilliant performance space. An intimate, admiring crowd that included producer Clams Casino and Girls actress Zosia Mamet amassed at sunset. Perspiring in insane city humidity, they were greeted by buckets of ice-chilled vitaminwater and a country-crossing DJ set from hometown favorite Venus X, who fired off Migos’ “Hannah Montana” and Katie Got Bandz’ “Y U Mad.” Read more on The Fader

Nipsey Hussle released some new material from the lab entitled “Blessings” the West coast mc goes in on an excellent track Produced by 1500 Or Nothin & The Futuristiks. This song will potentially end up on his upcoming project “The Marathon 3: Victory Lap”
