Last Thursday saw the official 2013 opening of The Westfield (White City) Ice Rink. i-likeitalot.com were lucky enough to be invited to The Vip party which included champagne, wine, cocktails, and delicate yet tasty entrées which were regularly circulated amongst guests, our favourites being the miniature mince pies, the decadent and morish white and dark chocolate button lolly pops. Performances on the night included Save The Children’s Ambassador voice of an Angel – Choirboy Jack Topping who performed numerous Christmas carols. Professional skaters dressed in festive Christmas inspired outfits as they took to the ice putting on an awe inspiring and captivating show as well as numerous skaters falling on the ice.
We love the fact that both children and adults can enjoy Westfields indoor ice rinks in one of west london’s most iconic shopping complex locations. Skating at Westfield offers a unique experience in beautiful surroundings, ice skating can be fitted in around, shopping, dinning or cinema if you choose. The venue is perfect for first dates as it boasts a temperature controlled climate which is closer to room temperature than an outdoor ice rink, complete with helpful ice penguins which both adults and children can use to maintain their balance whilst building ice confidence.
The main event however was the spectacular opening of the ice rink which featured the use of indoor fireworks and bangers. Following on from jack topping were a flurry of live acts who performed original material and a few festive hits however the main opening was indeed the highlight.
In addition to the ice rink Westfield also features a unique Santa’s Grotto experience in which children can. Visit Santa and his helpers in their new Grotto, which features sparkling giant candy canes and a magical roof top village.
“The whole family will enjoy the all-digital, 5D personalised Christmas animated story that tells the tale of Elbow the Elf, and how he saves Christmas with the help of all the children in the grotto. Each child’s name and picture will feature in the Pixar quality film as the 5D experience bursts into life with the added dimensions of wind, lights and magical elf dust!”
Every child who visits Santa receives a gift and 35p from each ticket sold goes to Save The Children Children’s Charity.
In summary this launch was sophisticated, classy and eventful. // Get your skates on and head over to the ice rink as it will be open until 5th January 2014.
