Robert Downey Jr has been cast to play the lead role in upcoming film “The Judge” released via Warner Bros. Pictures which premieres in cinemas on October the 10th 2014. The expected calibre of this film lends itself to the list of talent involved inclusive of Oscar winner Robert Duvall starring as Downey Jr’s estranged father and Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga taking the female lead as Downey’s high school sweetheart.
The film documents the journey of Hank Palmer (Downey Jr), the movie’s protagonist, as he heads back to his hometown of Indiana- dull in comparison to the usual surroundings of a successful city lawyer and all the luxuries of the lavish lifestyle that he has established for himself.
Returning to his home town Hank comes face to face with his father (Duvall), a reputable judge, who has found himself at the heart of a murder investigation. With his father being prosecuted for murder, Palmer devotes his time building a defence case devised to protect his estranged father whilst the movie drops intricate details regarding the inevitable unveiling of the truth. Taking to the stand in defence of his father, (which may be viewed as a conflict of interest for) the Lawyer who has gained a reputation as a man of money and no conscious , aims to prove that his father was wrongfully accused.
Whilst looking into the mystery surrounding the investigation, Palmer is forced to re-establishes his connection with the family and life that he had neglected years earlier whilst in Indiana. The maturity of the character role in which Downey embraces is a far cry from the character of the Marvel character which Robert Downey Junior played , as he truly flexes his acting muscles alongside an all star cast of genuinely talented actors including Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onorfio (Law & Order), Jeremy Strong (Zero Dark Thirty), Oscar Winner Billy Bob Thornton, and Melissa Leo contributing to the quality of the movie packed full of well directed scenes which flow well within the film handled expertly by all accomplished actors involved – playing off Downey and each other well. The must see film mixes a convoluted plot, memorable one liners, plot twists and a punchy narrative which makes the film worth watching.
