It may come as surprise to many that during COVID19 congestion charging in London was temporarily suspended only to then be reactivated with extended hours of operation. Click below to find out the new hours and cost to drive into central London of which went live on 22nd June 2020.
“From 22 June the Congestion Charge, which covers around one per cent of Greater London, will temporarily increase to £15, operate 07:00-22:00 seven days a week and the residents’ discount will be closed to new applicants on 1 August. These temporary changes will reduce traffic in central London and enable more journeys to be made safely by foot or by bike while keeping the bus network reliable for those making essential journeys.”
According the Article published on TFL’s website the Government have put pressure on the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan in order to have the fee increased to £15 , with applications for discounts and exemptions coming to a close on August 1st 2020. Click here to read the full press release.
