In his powerful book The Four Agreements, ™ author of Toltec, Don Miguel Ruiz, offers readers four simple but profound chords as important tools on the path to individual freedom. Everyone can use these wonderful tools to break their self-limiting convictions and chords of the past, and turn their lives into a new experience of freedom, happiness and real love – if they understand and harness the deep force that surrounds them. These new agreements have the potential to help you draw your attention to what the world thinks you should do or be, what you know for yourself as just for you, in order to regain scattered personal energy and power and open yourself to deeper intimacy in personal relationships. Be immaculate with your word. Our words, thoughts, actions and feelings all contribute to the creation of our reality. Our word is a double-edged sword, it can create or destroy. To be impeccable is to create with a conscious conscience and love. Many people read Don Miguel`s wonderful book and see “impeccable” and their spirit translates it into “Having Integrity”.
Or “Be honest.” You think he says, “Always keep your obligations,” or even “don`t cheat on your wife.” Enjoy features that are only possible in digital form – start reading immediately, carry your library with you, adapt the font, create shared notes and highlights, and more. You miss the magic of Don Miguel`s explanation of impeccable meaning: the prefix means “im” without, and “peccable” is made of the Peccatum-derived Latins, which means “sin.” To be impeccable is to be sinless. Then Miguel defines “sin” as “going against himself, or using his word against himself.” This definition is very different from “integrity” or “honesty.” These are notions that come from outside, such as cultural, moral or religious values and rules. Not using your word against yourself is insider work. You are the only ones who know if you have gone with your word against yourself (thoughts, actions, decisions, reactions, convictions, etc.). And sometimes consciousness can come long after your word is spoken or your choice has been made. When someone says, “You are not blameless with your word,” you know that they have read and misunderstood the four chords. You don`t have to tell them… Maybe you`re showing them this article. No one can know about anyone else. And absolutely read my book The Everything Toltec Wisdom Book, which describes the many tools Toltecs has in ancient and modern devices – tools to heal wounds, erase lies, change your dream and make your life as a toltec artist a beautiful work of art.
