Dasher.111442

Open till the 27th of April at the Little Black Gallery on Leonard Street in Shoreditch, this exhibition of dogs in cars promises to be intriguing. According to the press release it explores the relationship between humans and dogs(oh really?) but never the less it’s a well executed project from what we can tell. And should be well worth a visit.

What We Are Listening To: (New Music)

Bastille-Bad-Blood-2013-1200x1200

Streaming music via paid subscription or for free legally is helping keep emerging talents and the record industry a float. In times when a variety of new and interesting musicians can release new music independently as well as creating a huge social media fan following without the assistance of major labels, there now more than ever seems to be more choice and a range of various different styles of music which traditionally may have only existed in certain sub cultures and may be considered too far left of mainstream, however a side effect of the freedom to listen to a wide array of music is that there is no filter or indicator to suggest what is worth avoiding. For this reason we have decided to give you an opportunity to listen to new music which may not be commercially successful immediately but would be our choice of ones to watch:

I-Likeitalot or Not : Damien Hirst’s Verity statue

In mid-October day the harbourside at Ilfracombe is usually the domain of just a few fishermen, dog-walkers and hardy fresh-air freaks. People who had come from near and far to gawp, wonder and talk about Damien Hirst’s Verity, a 20m-high statue of a naked pregnant woman named Verity. She carries the scales of justice and stands on a plinth of law books. Critics in the town call it “outrageous and grotesque” while others see her as “beautiful and unique”.

Tom OXley: Face to Face: The Moving portrait exhibition (With Delilah, Wretch 32 and Azealia Banks etc)

Last Thursday we went to see the 3 minute moving portrait exhibition from Tom Oxley entitled ‘Face to Face,’ and consume a generous amount of tequila supplied by Patron.

Projected onto the walls of the LondoNewcastle gallery on Redchurch gallery in Shoreditch, are a series of 3 minute video portraits of musicans, including Professor Green, Delilah and Azealia Banks among others. A bit like Andy Warhols five minute portraits of the seventies, only these are accompanied by specific tracks that the musician listened to during the take.

In summary, looks great with the lights off, not so great with them on.

The exhibition runs until the 28th of October at Londonnewcastle, for more info click here.
