This is the behind the scenes of this week’s Billboard cover shoot with Diplo, Skrillex and A-Trak. The shoot resulted in a discussion on the state of electronic dance music, how DJs are ego-less (according to Diplo), and Kanye West’s influence on the scene. As Diplo notes in the video, the three DJs hope to collaborate on tracks in the future.

Skrillex has come 4th in the BBC Sound of 2012 countdown. Los Angeles born Skrillex (aka Sonny Moore) already has an impressive track record for a 23-year-old. Though he’d been dabbling with making electronic music since his early teens, Aphex Twin and The Prodigy were his early influences. He first came to public attention as the singer for post-hardcore band Screamo. I wouldn’t try to categorize his genre but to let you know what melodic dubstep is whats his amazing music sounds to me. We’re going to be hearing a lot from the Grammy nominated producer in this year as Machine Gun Kelly has already jumped on a track with the prodigy. Press play below and listen to some awesome sounds.
He will be performing the 12th February 2012 at Manchester Academy 1 in Manchester, UK

Hyundai and The GRAMMYs have co-commissioned a documentary called the RE:GENERATION Music Project, asking producers DJ Premier, Mark Ronson, The Crystal Method, Skrillex, and Pretty Lights to take on a monumental task: Step outside of their comfort zones and create tracks with artists from other genres. Due out early next year, RE:GENERATION follows these five DJs into the studios as they turn the tables on the history of music. Watch the trailer for a first look at what happens when two different genres get mashed together, then visit the RE:GENERATION website and Hyundai’s YouTube page to check out other exclusive content from the film.
