Bounce: the home of ping pong

Table-tennis is rapidly making a comeback in London… seems like almost every public space has a table nowadays. Bounce is the latest venue to capitalize on this growing phenomenon and is apparently in the very building that Jean Jacques trademarked it as “Ping Pong.”

We went to check this out a couple of weeks ago, and as a venue it’s pretty impressive. It holds about ten tables, a huge bar and a pizza restaurant. We particularly enjoyed the artwork on the walls, which includes Fidel Castro, some raunchy 1950’s soft porn shots, Richard Nixon and Chairman Mao.

Eastpak insider Trail

During the summer Eastpak hid £5000 somewhere in London, the sneaky buggers. Then they set a challenge, find the money!

Over three weeks, members of the public were subjected challenges to test their physical and mental endurance. Sounds a bit like a kafka-esque nightmare doesn’t it? Well not really, because three lucky girls got alllllll the money.

We were invited down to watch as they arrived at the final destination on the top of a multi-storey carpark in Peckham.

As you can see from the video below they were pretty damn happy… But this experience left me wondering, Why Peckham? Did they get mugged on the way home? Why didn’t I think of that?

Brandon Generator Episodes 1-4

This may be a little bit late for those of you who like interactive stories, but this is still worth a watch. Narrated by Julian Barratt from the Mighty Boosh this is a fantastic animated story written and directed by Edgar Wright and Tommy Lee Edwards with each episode including plot suggestions from the public.

When you visit the website you’ll notice the internet explorer logo hanging there right at the beginning, and you’d be right in this has something to do with Microsoft. However, as far as marketing vehicles go this is surprisingly good…

You can watch all the episodes below or if you want to visit the website, click here.

Uk Rumfest

This weekend we’ll be heading down to Rumfest at the Excel centre in East London, which is a yearly event celebrating our favourite water substitute, Rum!

Apparently there are over 400 Rums to sample, and being that it starts at 11am!!!!! You’re probably gonna need to eat a very big breakfast.
Mind you it’s not all about Rum, there’s a tropical food market, and some live entertainment…. should be a fun weekend.

GORDON’S GIN LIMITED EDITION BOTTLE COLLECTION LAUNCH

Last week Gordon’s Gin launched a new collection of bottles designed by Sir Terence Conran. We were invited to the launch event at One Mayfair in Marylebone, London.

When we arrived it was felt like we were inside a Giant Gin bottle with canapes, music and cocktails. Just when we thought that was it a countdown began and six bottles were revealed from behind black screens each with their own themes. Our favourite was a room where you could colour in some bottle designs on canvas with an extensive selection of um, well green.

Puma Yard closing party recap: Norman Jay/Good Times and David Rodigan

We’ve just about recovered from the final day of Puma Yard, which featured Norman Jay’s Good Times carnival sound system as well as the legendary David Rodigan. This was definitely one of the highlights of a staggering two weeks of events.

When we arrived David Rodigan was in full swing hyping up the crowd and then Norman Jay appeared in his customary hat. Somehow in the space of a day they’d managed to install a replica of a caravan on the stage which housed the DJ booth where Norman Jay and David Rodigan pumped out their carnival sounds. One wonders: Will Puma be hosting a carnival party?
