Jonelle monae treated her captive audience at the West Holts Stage during Glastonbury festival to a career defining performance that combined art, music and spectacle. Monae who was discovered by Big Boy from Outkasts while singing back up for the group, entertained with the assistance of her band and dancers. The material she performed was a blend of material taken from projects Archandroid. The performance featured a tribute to Michael Jackson. Janelle performed an excellent set which will go down in Glastonbury history as one of the best performances by an artist so diverse, blending elements of Michael Jackson, Prince and James Brown in what can only be explained as a showing years ahead of her time, witnessing Janelle Monae’s skill, ability to transcend the ordinary and basic while captivating the audience leaving many truly in awe of her spirit, the world truly was not ready for what Janelle was offering. The Glastonbury 2011 performance at the West Holts Stage was a visual master class on how to perform, it was as if she was not from this earth and the visual spectacle that was her performance art was unforgettable and a highlight of the festival.

These images are from Balmain Homme’s Fall 2011 campaign. The French fashion house continues to combine simplicity and elements of rock star aesthetic. This collection confirms Balmain’s quality of design work as well as reaffirming why the Men’s designer brand is popular with Artists Swiss Beats, Kanye West and Coldplay’s lead singer/song writer Chris Martin. Not surprisingly, Balmain continues to deliver impeccably cut and glamorous clothes in their military-inspired Autumn 2011 collection. Most eye catching are the chunky scarves, a fur vest, coats emblazoned with decorative stripes and gold button details, leather jackets and skinny jeans. The new seasons collection is definitely as success, if the campaign images are the direction that Balmain are pursuing.
The Spring/Summer 2011 end of season sale has started over at Barbour just in time for the festival season. The Barbour online sale runs simultaneously with the retail store.

Lady Gaga and Jean-Paul Gaultier participated in a photo shot for Match Magazine Paris, shot by SLAM. The photo shoot will coincide with the release of the documentary, Gaga by Gaultier, which airs in June. Part One and Two of the interview were available to view 7 hours ago on youtube however both parts have been removed as a copyright claim request was put in by “Dak Tirak.” Enjoy the preview above, the interview is expected to premier on 9th June.
