Back in September 2011 Beyonce and Tina Knowles hosted the most splendid fashion show to celebrate the launch of the UK debut of the House of Dereon collection. I-likeitalot.com attended the main show and after party. The Invitation only event guestlist included Alexandra Burke, Chipmunk, Wretch 32, Labrinth, Paloma Faith, Rachel Stevens, Rosario Dawnson and Rita Ora to name a few. The fashion show was urban and edgy, the setting Selfridges indoor car park converted into a fashion show complete with runway, in the heart of London’s west end. The special guests who had front row seats (reserved) received a Selfridges gift bag containing a candle, Pulse Beyonce’s newest fragrance and a buyers list of items that appear in the show. When the lights went down the fashion show started with a video montage of scenes of natural disasters played on the huge video installation, the destruction looked as if it came out of a Hollywood feature film, Beyonce’s voiceover clarified the inspiration behind the collection, from what I gathered the new collection was based on the theme of natural beauty in a world of adverse weather conditions the collection is coincidently based on the theme of the female Global Nomad. On the runway the collection was stunning, every single model that walked down the runway looked fantastic, the accessories, pattern, prints, colour and styling was bang on trend. What did the collection look like? What did the music sound like at the hottest fashion show of the year? Watch the footage from the full runway show here.
Tonight will be the last date that Florence + The Machine play at the Alexandra Palace in London. Watch the video for Florence + The Machine – Never Let Me Go taken from the fantastic Ceremonials album below.
The atmosphere was pleasant over at BET during the 106& Park show, as the audience embraced Lil Kim one of the most celebrated female MC’s Lil’ Kim who made a special appearance on Friday’s show filmed in New York City, in order to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G.’s death. Christopher Wallace protégée Lil Kim spoke about her new single “If You Love Me,” upcoming album, the Notorious movie, thanked her loyal fans and participated as a judge during the “Freestyle Friday” feature. However things soon turned sour towards the end of the show when co host Rocsi Diaz attempted to encourage Lil Kim to talk about the current situation of her ongoing rivalry with Nicki Minaj one which Rosci dared to described in Kim’s presence as an “elephant in the room.” Check out what happened next in the footage below.
Lil Kim then took to the social networking site Twitter to vent her frustration. “I want to take this time 2 say #TeamLilKim & all my fans that came out 2 106. I fucking love u guys. Y’all really turnt it up & represented,” tweeted Kim. “Even when Rocsi tried to get disrespectful towards the end & ask an unappropriate irrelevant question.”
This past November, Lenny Kravitz was awarded one of France’s highest accolades when he was made an officer of the Order of Arts and Letters, an honor he received because, according to French culture minister Frédéric Mitterrand, he had freed himself “from the barriers between black and white sound.” Indeed, Kravitz has a long history with the French, who embraced the retro ’60s vibe of his 1989 debut album, Let Love Rule, at a time when most of America didn’t know what to make of it. In fact, Kravitz even lives in Paris for several months a year, that’s another n**** in Paris if you ask us and We like it a lot.
