“Artpop.” starlet Lady Gaga collaborates with “Bionic.” belle Christina Aguilera to release the official remix to “Do What U Want.” which previously featured r’n’b singer R. Kelly. Listen to the track in full below.
Lady Gaga visited the Voice US to promote current album project Artpop, treating the audience to a unique version of current single “Do What U Want.” featuring Grammy Award winning pop star/voice judge and longtime rival Christina Aguilera marking the end of a much hyped and heavily publicised rivalry dating back from 2011. stemming from comments similar to the one below.
Christina Aguilera on Lady Gaga: “Oh, the newcomer?” Aguilera told reporters when asked about Gaga. “This person was just brought to my attention not too long ago. I’m not quite sure who this person is, to be honest. I don’t know if it is a man or a woman.” – W Magazine June 2011
That being said many jumped to the conclusion that the above comment was shady on basis that Lady Gaga had the best selling album of 2009 peaking at #2 spending 62 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, complete with a string of hit singles including “Just Dance,” “Paparazzi,” “LoveGame,” “Poker Face,” and “Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say),” which were written by Gaga and Rob Fusari/Red One. For this reason Xtina was chasing Lady Gaga’s sound during her ill fated “Bionic.” era 2008 -2010 which was Aguilera’s worst performing studio album ever shipping 110,000 first week in the US. Kelly was in Hollywood promoting his current album project “Black Panties.” Kels performed live on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” taking to the Sony outdoor stage to perform a medley of samples lifted from “Black Panties.” which is released worldwide today. The performance begins with the Pied Piper of R’n’B recreating the album art, and then turns up with his performance of “My Story,” where he brings out self confessed hair weave killer 2 Chainz. Solange Knowlwes usually rocks festival stages, however recently Solange headlined an intimate gig at a laundrette as part of vitaminwater collaboration with The FADER’s #uncapped series. New York’s Atlantis Super Wash Center in Brooklyn became a neon-lit venue complete with pop up stage as the “TONY.” singer performed a set which included cuts lifted from the EP True as well as a few of tracks lifted from her soulful back catalogue and included a fitting cover of Nivea’s Laundromat thrown in for good measure.
