Last Thursday saw the official 2013 opening of The Westfield (White City) Ice Rink. i-likeitalot.com were lucky enough to be invited to The Vip party which included champagne, wine, cocktails, and delicate yet tasty entrées which were regularly circulated amongst guests, our favourites being the miniature mince pies, the decadent and morish white and dark chocolate button lolly pops. Performances on the night included Save The Children’s Ambassador voice of an Angel – Choirboy Jack Topping who performed numerous Christmas carols. Professional skaters dressed in festive Christmas inspired outfits as they took to the ice putting on an awe inspiring and captivating show as well as numerous skaters falling on the ice.
Yes! Red Bull are returning for a sixth year to throw another epic party at Notting Hill Carnival on the 26th of August. Once again Rodigan will be representing, with a lineup of reggae and dancehall artists including the Marely Brothers, Wayne Marshall and Christopher Ellis as well as special carnival set from Disclosure.
Everyone remembers the epic struggle of previous years to obtain free tickets to the event, with servers crashing and people throwing their computer out of their windows. However, this year instead of a first come first served basis they will be running a ballot from 10 am on Monday 12th August until 5pm on Friday 16th August at redbull.co.uk/carnival.

Rumfest 2012 Recap
Last week Rumfest hit the Excel centre in east london, and responsible adults that we are we thought what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than to ‘Sample’ fine rums from around the world. I mean what could go wrong?
Here’s what went down:
12pm: Rumfest opens to the public….
2pm: We arrive… it is a Sunday our day of rest after all.
2:20pm We’ve been inside for twenty minutes and it’s like a party in full swing, we’re already getting that warm on the inside feeling that neat Rum and crackers provide, and people are dancing to the sound of Soca music.
3pm: We decide that maybe it’s a good idea to grab lunch, noticing that some of the people around us are falling asleep in their chairs as we eat.
3:30pm “Thank God for that pie and mash!” We head back in…
4pm: “How much for a bottle of 8 year old Ron Fortuna Nigaraguaguann please?”
4:30pm: Half an hour left… “Quick let’s see if anyone’s giving out free samples!”
5pm: “Whadya mean it’s finished?”
And there you have it, thank you Rumfest, it truly was a carnival for people in denial of winter. Next year we’re going for both days!
Tomorrow night is the launch party for a new exhibition called the Maker’s of Carnival. Photographed by Pennie Smith it documents some of the key people involved with making our beloved Notting Hill Carnival happen.
The exhibition will be held on the corner Portobello road and Lancaster road during the carnival, and will also be available to view online here.
For the pre-launch event Red Stripe have teamed up with Boiler Room to throw a pre-carnival party of epic proportions… stay tuned for a recap.
We’ve just about recovered from the final day of Puma Yard, which featured Norman Jay’s Good Times carnival sound system as well as the legendary David Rodigan. This was definitely one of the highlights of a staggering two weeks of events.
When we arrived David Rodigan was in full swing hyping up the crowd and then Norman Jay appeared in his customary hat. Somehow in the space of a day they’d managed to install a replica of a caravan on the stage which housed the DJ booth where Norman Jay and David Rodigan pumped out their carnival sounds. One wonders: Will Puma be hosting a carnival party?
