Jay West Goes Over the Gift and the Curse of Harlem

y-18qNZI5hx5M.480x360

“The next HYPEBEAST video takes us to the works of New York-based artist Jay West. Growing up in Harlem, West recalls how his early introduction to painting helped steer him to his current path, keeping him challenged while acting as his liferaft. Hailing from the same neighborhood as members of the A$AP Mob — mainly A$AP Ferg, as more often than not, he and Ferg were confused as twins during their high school years — they became a product of their environment, as seen and heard in the works of art and lyrics, respectively. West goes on to talk about another one of his imprints of this year — The A Bathing Ape “TrapLord” T-shirt. Watch the video above to learn more on Jay West.”
