Puma Yard: Marley Documentary

Last night we went down to Puma Yard again to watch the epic documentary on the life of Bob Marley. We say epic as 144 minutes does take a certain amount of concentration. Never the less it’s an entertaining and insightful two and a bit hours, so if you’re at all interested in Mr. Marley try and get a look at it.

Meanwhile outside in the ‘Yard’ the track and field were being played up on the giant screen to an excited crowd. From the sea of Jamaican flags you could tell what everyone was waiting for… Puma even had a confetti cannon on standby for moment when Usain Bolt glided across the finish line in the Men’s 200 metre final. Good times!

Curated by UK Dancehall blog Shimmy Shimmy it covers artwork from the 1980’s to the present day and features artists Robin Clare (Jamaica), Elen G (Israel), Daniel David Freeman (UK) and Peter Edwards (UK).

This could be the start of a beautiful relationship between Puma and the arts…

Puma Yard Jamaican Independance Party Recap

Puma Yard has been in operation for just over a week now and it’s served up some damn good parties. We went down last night for what we expected to be the party of the year as they celebrated Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary of Independance. Turns out we weren’t wrong.

The atmosphere was electric with carnival vibes… The pungent smell of burning meat filled the yard whilst inside the venue the track and field races were screened to the background of caribbean sounds. Later on we were treated to reggae legend Gyptian as well as a surprise performance from Shaggy

Other celebrities seen wandering included Cedlla Marley, Misha B, Alexandra Burke and Shingai Shoniwa…. to name a few.

Despite all the rum we drank it’ll definitely be a party to remember!

Personal Best at Adidas Underground

We went down to Adidas Underground on Tuesday night to witness a preview show of ‘Personal Best’ by up and coming documentary film maker Sam Blair. The film is a portrait of British sprinters as they train for the Olympics and was filmed over four years.

Check out the trailer below:

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaolxUSIqfs&w=540&h=304]

No movie premiere would be complete without popcorn, but Adidas made it that little bit more fun by making you compete in a game of paper, rock, scissors in order to get yourself a bag. Surely it should have been an Olympic sport!

Check the gallery we made of the evening:

The Bourne Legacy Trailer

If you haven’t seen this already here is the trailer for The Bourne Legacy. No it doesn’t star Matt Damon from the original three films, but Jeremy Renner (Who heroically burned to death as Doyle in “28 Weeks Later” and also appeared as Hawkeye in Avengers Assemble) certainly looks like he can fill his shoes. It’s also written and directed by Tony Gilroy who penned the first three films.

Jeremy plays another agent who’s battling against forces inside the US government who apparently for political reasons, not only want to kill him, but all of the agents in the Trent-Stone program. Why not just leave them alone in their wooden shacks in the mountains? It’s not clear from the trailer, but it looks like it involves a few explosions. So who cares really?

The Bourne Legacy opens in the UK August 13th.

Adidas Adizero Primeknit launches tonight

Look’s like 2012 is the year of innovation in the sporting world as Adidas exclusively launches their ‘Adizero Primeknit’ sneakers. These sneakers, much like Nike’s recent Fly Wear release, are designed to be lighter and softer than a pair of socks, (Apparently marathon runner’s were getting tired of carrying the extra weight of a pair of shoes on their feet.) and are knitted in one piece for durability.

If you want to get yourself a pair of these, then get your butt down to the Adidas retail space down at 10 Newburgh Street in Soho, there only 2,012 units available.
