Q-Tip, the New York hip-hop legend and former leader of A Tribe Called Quest, has signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music imprint on Def Jam Recordings. His fourth solo effort, tentatively titled “The Last Zulu,” will be released through the label in 2013. He also add “I’m excited to be a part of the great iconic Def Jam label,” Q-Tip says in a statement. “I’m humbled to be a part of such a storied history. To reconnect with [Island Def Jam Chairman & CEO] Barry Weiss is a great thing. As far as G.O.O.D. Music, I’m excited to solidify my working relationship with Kanye, and I look forward to all the opportunities that lie ahead in our partnership. A trailer for Sparkle emerge not too long ago which features Whitney Houston’s final film performance. Sparkle marks Houston’s return to the big screen after a 16-year hiatus, her first starring role in a film released in theaters since she co-starred with Denzel Washington in The Preacher’s Wife in 1996. It will also be her last. Houston died February 11th at age 48 in her Beverly Hills hotel room. Sparkle stars Jordin Sparks as Sparkle Williams, one of three sisters from Detroit struggling with fame as a singing group in the Sixties. Houston plays the women’s mother, who had her own unpleasant experience with the music industry, and she is seen in the trailer warning her kids of its dangers. A fithteen foot billboard featuring super model Kate Moss wearing the new Mango Spring Collection collapsed on Oxford Circus in London yesterday, falling off the Mango Flagship store onto one of London’s busiest shopping areas, crushing innocent by standers and injuring four. Three fire engines, four fire rescue units and three ambulances rushed to the scene bringing traffic to a standstill. Four people are reported to have minor injuries, while onlookers took photos and uploaded images to social networking websites Twitter and Facebook.
Beyonce Begins Work on Two New Albums
Beyoncé may have given birth to her first child last month, but the singer is already planning two new projects to write and record in 2012. Ryan Tedder, OneRepublic frontman and co-writer of Beyoncé tunes such as “Halo” and “I Was Here,” says that he and other producers are cooking up raw material that the singer will have the option to complete in the studio. “All I can say is, you kind of feed her the best that you have and she’s this phenomenal filter and she takes it all in,” Tedder told the BoomBox at the Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday.
