Raphael Saadiq – Itunes Festival


On Sunday 17th of July 2011 at The Roundhouse in Camden, Raphael Saadiq wowed fan’s all over the world with effortless vocals, nonstop energy and an undeniable swag that can only come from being celebrated in the industry for creating bodies of work known and respected amongst fans as well as by other performers who often sight Raphael as an inspiration for creating soulful music that is transcends race and colour lines blending influences of r’n’b, soul, jazz, rock and roll. This performance was one of Raphael’s best London showings however many were left scratching their heads when he did not perform Dance Tonight or current single Good Man, instead the crowd were treated to excellent live showings of songs that appear on his latest project Stone Rolling. Shout out to the the band who were magnificently funky and especially to the unknown man on the keys who who gave an awesome vocal performance, the show was fantastic from start to finish. i-likeitaot were at the Roundhouse to witness the after show standing ovation.

Dirty Sexy Things is a brand new reality television show airing on E4 this summer featuring eight beautiful models ready to bare all for an eight-week project led by noted fashion photographer, Perou. Perou sets out to create a series of images that will feature in a gallery exhibition, that he hopes will redefine the landscape of fashion photograph as he pushes the models to the extreme in order to create stunningly brilliant and innovative fashion photography. These eight models are offered the opportunity of a life time having been selected during the audition process, these models were ordinary people with extraordinary beauty, plucked from obscurity and given a chance to attend go see’s with internationally renowned fashion houses, to walk in international fashion shows, to be represented by the most respected model agencies in the world which often leads to featuring in multi million pound advertising campaigns. By letting the cameras follow what goes on backstage this new concept documentary is an all access pass that reveals what living the model life is like in reality. How will the final eight deal with fame, fortune, agencies, racism, sexism, ageism and more challenging scenarios that factor into life as a professional model in the relentless and ever changing fashion industry?

Damien Hurst x Supreme Customised Skate Decks Launch: Other Criteria London


English artist, entreprenauer and art collector Damien Hurst unveiled skateboard decks made two years ago in a collaborative effort with Supreme, the skateboards became the focus in a unique gallery meets retail store experience where consumers could shop Damien Hurst created t shirts, books, sculptures and framed works of art. Damien really understands art and it reflects in the nature of his ready to buy cohesive, simple and effective collection. The clarity, pristine and clinical nature of the pieces allow his works of art to be appreciated across cultures hence the reason that the exhibition’s center pieces the Damien Hurst x Supreme collaborative skateboards were popular internationally having been exhibited in Japan and the United States.

Glastonbury Highlights – Extended: Janelle Monae

Janelle Monáe treated festival goers to an amazingly soulful set. If some members of the audience did not know who Janelle Monae was know they know. Janelle Monae came armed with her ever evolving abundance of influences and her Wondaland collective to Worthy farm to offer a real treat for the West Holts Stage.

Channelling a mixture between Blade Runner and James Browns, Janelle Monae stamped her unique vocal identity, style and charisma all over the stage. Her performance a genius mixture of original song compositions from her album’s Metropolis and ArchAndroid which had many debating if Janelle Monae stole the show and if there could ever be a performance that would surpass what ilikeitalot would easily class within the top 5 performances at Glastonbury festival 2011. Janelle Monae and the Worderland Collective’s unique live show was the icing on the festival cake and they even treated fans to a pleasant surprise as hundreds of party balloons were launched into the audience during the performance of hit single “Tightrope.” Clearly a career defining moment, as Monae’s explosive set will go down as one of the great performances at Glastonbury for years to come.

Glastonbury Highlights – Extended: Tinie Tempah

Tinie Tempah arrived at the Pyramid Stage this time as a headlining act, adding to the milestones of achievement this year for the South London MC. Tinie was invited to perform on the festival’s biggest platform in 2010 with Hip Hop Legend Snoop Dogg in a special rendition of his hit single Pass Out. Tinie Tempah performed a catalogue of hits from his debut album Disc-overy.
